Hello Yara! Yes–it is possible to Learn Ballet at the age of 17. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. As long as your body meets the prerequisite conditions of strength and flexibility, you’re not too old to start.
Back in college, I had a few classmates who–as part of their broad general education–started by taking a modern jazz dance class; ended up liking dance and decided to expand their horizons by taking ballet. These kids were 18-19 at the time and up to that point had never taken any formal dance classes.
Like any physically demanding sport or performing art–listen to your body and don’t force it beyond it’s limitations, especially as a new learner.
