Professional Ballet Dancers that are Inspiring?

I need to do a research paper on someone famous. Do you know of any dancers, ballet jazz, etc. Thanks, I am open for anything.

klovesdance’s suggestions are all goood, but if you’re looking for inspiration I’d suggest Darcey Bussel. You probs know who she is already, but I’ll tell you a bit!

She didn’t start ballet until she was 13, surely an inspiration to all those girls who have the passion for dance, but haven’t been doing classes since before they could walk. Apparently she only started to try and sort out knock knees, but then moved on to The Royal Ballet‘s White Lodge School although she was two years older than the usual admission age. This must have been so tough, and she freely admits that she was miserable her whole first year, yet she stuck it out, which to me is admirable, she showed true determination because of her love of dance. This paid off, she was part of the Royal Ballet Company at 17 and by 20 she had become a principal dancer (the youngest they had ever had).

Another reason Darcey Bussel stands out is her famously sweet personality. In the notoriously bitchy and snobbish world of ballet, Darcey has often been described as the “people’s ballerina”, opening the world of ballet to a wider audience, despite criticism from others in the industry for making ballet too accessible. She has also shown that it is possible to juggle home life with a ballet career, as she is married with two children. I think this is inspiring as it shows that you can have success as a ballerina without letting it completely consume you.

I’ve gone on loads I know! I just love her! I think she’s everything ballerinas should be, but aren’t!
