Thanksgiving in St Pete/Tampa Florida. Stranded or beach bum?
I will be going to college in St Petersburg Florida and my family and I are trying to figure out what to do for Thanksgiving. I think that I will for sure miss my family and want to see them, but I only get two days off! My family lives in Texas, but we were sort of thinking they could come to Florida and the beach and be with me. If they can’t come though, I’ll be on my own for thanksgiving. I know I’ll probably be with friends etc. But I was wondering I there were any events or shows that would be fun to go see in St Petersburg/Tampa Florida area. Anything Ballet or musical theatre is perfect! What do you recommend? Or should I just hang out on the beach the whole time!
are there any local beaches that are less populated or kept a local secret?
I would suggest calling or looking up their website. The Saint Petersburg Times. St Pete is fortunate in having an excellent paper. I am sure they could be of great help. For such a short time (2 days) it probably would not be wise to make the two hour each way trip to the Orlando theme park area. For excellent beaches nr St Pete, Fort de Soto is number one. Number one and never over crowded.
Another great and quiet beach is at Caladesi island, launch from Clearwater. Wonderful. Best Hotel
St Pete Don Cesar (1930 atmosphere. Most of the whole touristy area is pretty tacky, unless you like t-shirt stores and fast foods.

Just remembered The Salvador Dali museum has just opened its new location in St Pete -
We went to the old one – great – can spend full day really interesting

Drawn from Pushkin’s classic, the ope… |

Pytor Illych Tchaikovsky: The Nutcracker – Complete Ballet $9.19 Although Gergiev is highly experienced in the theater, and he is leading an opera-ballet orchestra, this is definitely a concert Nutcracker. Tempos are brisk, textures streamlined, and dancers might have a good deal of difficulty keeping up with the music. For us home listeners, though, this is a superb way to hear Tchaikovsky’s complete score and to remind ourselves of how much good music isn’t i… |
